FAQ — EU citizens
Answers to the questions we hear most from EU citizens settling in Greece.
Yes. As soon as you work, open a bank account, rent or buy property, or receive income in Greece, you need an AFM (the Greek TIN). EU citizens staying over three months should also get a registration certificate.
Once your file is complete it is usually issued the same day at the DOY. The real work is preparing the correct documents, which we handle.
No. We deal with the DOY and myAADE for you and explain everything in English.
The AFM is your tax number; the AMKA is your social-security and healthcare number. Most newcomers end up needing both.
Yes — once your AFM is issued we help you register and activate your online tax credentials.
